As an alternative to having insulation to both sides of the wall we have introduced the R-Wall. This allows the insulation to be on only one face of the wall (usually the outer face) with the inner skin of insulation being replaced by either a permanent cement fibreboard or by just leaving the bare concrete.
The application of the R-Wall is for
- underground basement garages where insulation is not a necessity
- internal face of commercial swimming pools
- internal structural walls where insulation is not necessary between rooms in the same house
- in basements and retaining walls where ground water may be an issue
- where solar gain needs the thermal mass of the concrete
